Green Cargo Redundancies: Swedish Rail News | Järnvägar.nu

“The announcement primarily concerns station staff, but we cannot rule out that a number of train drivers will also be made redundant,” says Stephan Ray, communications manager at Green Cargo.

The background to the notification is reduced transport volumes, reduced turnover and increasing losses for Green Cargo. The last quarter was one of the worst in the company’s history.

“We have a strained financial situation and we are adjusting costs to the declining revenues,” says Stephan Ray.

“We run fewer trains and then less staff is required.”

A total of 13 localities are affected

According to Green Cargo, staff in Boden, Vännäs, Skelleftehamn, Långsele, Ånge, Sundsvall, Borlänge, Eskilstuna, Tomteboda and Helsingborg are also affected, but these are not covered by any notice of staff reductions.

“In Hallsberg, Gothenburg and Nässjö, more than five employees are likely to be affected and then we have to issue a formal notice,” says Stephan Ray.

“In the other locations, it is about individual employees.”
