On the first Monday of December, the Mendoza health portfolio will begin an innovative virtual and autonomous training strategy. This is the first of three microcourses designed to optimize the management of health data through Google Sheets, a key digital competency to streamline and improve the quality of information in the province’s public health system.
The Ministry of Health and Sports of Mendoza will start Microcourse 1: “Fundamentals of Google Sheets for Health Data.” In this way, starting next Monday, December 1, the thirty-first virtual training session of the year 2025 will be launched, marking a milestone in the continuous training offer of the healthcare portfolio.
The Google Sheets proposal is structured into three independent microcourses that, together, gradually address the use of Google Sheets to work with health data. While this first module lays the foundation, instances 2 and 3, which will be enabled throughout 2026, will delve into advanced functionalities and specific analysis of health data. This phased approach allows participants to build solid, applicable competencies in a stepwise manner, ensuring meaningful and lasting learning.
In a sector like health where time is a critical resource, this modality is presented as a pragmatic and effective alternative to close digital competence gaps without interfering in daily work responsibilities, prioritizing the immediate applicability of knowledge.
The first spreadsheet course will be developed under a completely autonomous modality through the ministry’s Esalud virtual campus. This allows each doctor, nurse, administrator or technician to advance according to their own time availability, without depending on fixed class schedules. The microcourse is specifically aimed at staff in health facilities in the Province of Mendoza, both in the public and private spheres. It is crucial to highlight that the call is not limited to the healthcare area; It is open to professionals and workers of various occupations, recognizing that the efficient management of spreadsheets is a basic and transversal digital competence, essential from logistics management to epidemiological analysis.
Accessing and enrolling in the course is simple: for users who already have an account in the Esalud Virtual Campus, the process is immediate and they can self-enroll using the “formilla” access code (in lowercase letters). For those who are new to the platform, you must complete a registration form available at the link:
From theory to payroll: a program that builds skills from the base
The program of the first microcourse is intelligently structured in two complementary units that transcend mere technical instruction. Unit 1, “Data Fundamentals in Public Health,” is not limited to abstract concepts; lays the critical foundation for understanding the health information ecosystem. It addresses everything from the crucial distinction between raw data and processed information, to the unique characteristics and quality attributes—such as integrity, precision, and timeliness—that all public health data must meet to be a reliable input.
Unit 2, “Introduction to Google Sheets,” immediately translates this theory into practice, guiding the participant through the tool’s environment, its essential functionalities, and its specific application to organize and manage health data. This deliberate combination seeks not only to instruct in “how to do it,” but also to instill “why it is important,” fostering a culture of rigor and quality in the management of information that, ultimately, is the invisible pillar on which the effectiveness of public health policies and decision-making rests.
