Google Home gains new capabilities for complex smart home automation. Users can now control devices and create routines even more specifically.

Google is significantly expanding the automation features in Google Home. With the current update, users can now create more complex routines based on media playback, volume and the status of smart devices.

For example, the lighting can be automatically dimmed when a television is on, or the security system can be activated every evening at a certain time, reports “Android Police”.

Google Home: 20 new triggers and actions

The update brings a total of 20 new starting conditions and actions. These include, but are not limited to, controlling volume and playback on media devices, adjusting light levels, and checking the health of certain appliances such as washers or dryers. Actions such as turning devices on or off, starting or pausing smart home devices, and controlling lighting effects are also supported.

More flexibility in everyday life with Google Home

The new automations allow users to control their home more individually and efficiently. According to “Android Police”, routines can now be precisely tailored to your own daily routine, devices interact with each other more smartly and control over the smart home is significantly expanded.

Google is making AI features in Gmail available to all users

Following the recent innovations in Google Home, Google is now also expanding its AI offerings in Gmail. Previously, features like Help Me Write were only available to paid Google AI Plus or Pro subscribers, but now all Gmail users can use these AI services. In doing so, Google is removing the previous payment barriers and making intelligent writing aids more widely available.
