Last week was extremely restless to Google Services users. First of all, it appeared a confirmation that the technology giant was experiencing a cyber attack and leaking user data.
The news of another burglary was soon followed. This time, Google Cloud customers were hit. After that, Google released a Chrome 139 security update to repair several vulnerable areas recorded recently, and warned the number of increased attacks on Google accounts.
As many as three warning letters were sent to many users, but compared to the data leak itself, it seemed a smaller event. The latest turn in the story is the official confirmation that warning letters about data leaks have certainly been sent.
Google data leak
Google Threat Intelligence Group announced a successful cyber attack on August 5. It has been confirmed that hackers associated with the Shinyhunters ransom requirement and data abduction group, also known as the UNC6040, reached one of the databases used by Google.
This database, the Salesforce system, was used to store contact information and other related records of small and medium -sized enterprises.
The exact extent of the leaked information has not yet been finally confirmed, but Google says the main and most publicly available business data, corporate names and contacts have been stolen.
Was the victims informed?

For a long time, cybersecurity professionals and users themselves have questioned whether Google has already informed the victim organizations about the attack and leaked data.
According to William Wright, CEO of Closed Door Security, the risk of such a delay is obvious. If the notifications are not sent on time, the criminals may consider the stolen information for several months and the victims would not even know about it. On August 8, Google finally updated the information.
“Currently, letters are actively sent to the victims of the incident,” the company said, and later confirmed that Google had already completed all the victims’ information by email. by mail.
What can a warning letter mean?

The content of the official Google messages is not yet disclosed, so if you have received such a letter, it is necessary to read it carefully and verify the information specified.
Such reports usually contain what data could have been violated, what security action to take and where to apply for additional assistance.
