Google App Voice Search Redesign – Android 2024

by archynetyscom

Besides working on some major improvements to its core apps, Google always has a knack for changes that are subtle and add to the aesthetics. While these don’t entirely change the functionality altogether, they make the experience more visually pleasing. One such change is coming to Google app’s Voice Search on Android, which is now getting a redesign.

Voice Search in the Google app gets a major redesign

Google’s Voice Search on Android is getting a revamp with a major redesign that enhances the visuals. This isn’t the first time we’re seeing this change. We first heard about it towards the end of last year when it was spotted in the works. A good couple of months later, it was made available to a small batch of users as an experiment. Well, that big change is now finally here and is rolling out to more users on the stable and beta channels.

As spotted by 9to5Googleit is apparently available to users running the latest version of the Google app on Android. For stable users, the Google app version number is 17.1, while for beta it is 17.2.

Make sure to be on the latest version of the app

As for what’s exactly changing, there’s now a Google “G” logo at the top center of the screen when you activate Voice Search. There’s reportedly a new menu, at the right edge, that one can access from the same screen. This offers settings for Voice Search, like changing the language, choosing the voice, and more. Below the face illustration, you’ll now notice a four-color arc that is similar to AI Mode and Search Live. Again, this adds to the overall visual appeal.

The “Search a song” button is still there, but is now larger than before. This takes you to a song search UI. The redesign also ditches the sphere animation in favor of text that shows ”Play, Sing, Hum. There’s also a shortcut to Song Search history.

The new redesign looks quite clean. If you want to experience this fresh new design, make sure you’re on the latest version of the Google app. You can access Voice Search from the homescreen widget or any Google Search bar inside the app.
