For centuries, gold has been a symbol of security – an asset that investors turn to uncertain times. But since the summer of 2025, something has changed. The price of gold began to grow at a rate, which more reminiscent of cryptocurrencies than of traditional precious metal. There is a new phenomenon in the markets – the so -called. Bitcoinization of gold.
The term “bitcoinization” describes a moment when an asset ceases to be simply a remedy for value and becomes the subject of a mass investment euphoria. People no longer buy gold only to protect against inflation, but because they believe that its price will continue to grow – and are afraid of missing out the opportunity.
Until recently, gold was perceived as a “slow” and stable asset – Bitcoin‘s antipode. Today, however, more and more investors, funds and even corporations are redirecting their capital to it, looking for a real asset in the era of monetary loosening, high state debts and geopolitical tension.
ETF gold funds are reporting a record capital influx, and some analysts are already talking about a $ 10,000 screenplay per ounce in the coming years.
In the last decade, Bitcoin has been called “digital gold”. Today we can say that gold becomes a “physical bitcoin” – an asset that concentrates both fear, hope and speculation. This is the essence of bitcoinization – when the psychology in the crypto market conquers the real world.
The possible consequences are serious. Central banks are likely to rethink the role of gold in their reserves. The dollar may lose some of its status as a major reserve currency. And investors will have to decide whether gold remains protection or has already become a new profit race.
If Bitcoin was digital gold, now gold is the new bitcoin. The difference is that this time the old king returns the crown – but with the behavior of the young.
