The new owner of GOG.com, Michał Kiciński, ha criticado duramente a Windows by classifying it as a “very low quality” softwarealso being very surprised that it continues to dominate the PC market today. This is how he expresses it clearly in an interview published by the media PC Gamerin which he also assures that he is not surprised that many users are abandoning the Windows operating system. “It is very poor quality software and product, and I am very surprised that it has been on the market for so many years. “I can’t believe it,” he said.
Kiciński is the original founder of GOG and CD Projekt RED, and after buying back the entity a few weeks ago, he has confirmed that from now on will improve their support Linux. For his part, the general director of GOG, Maciej Gołębiewski, explained that Linux is part of the store’s new strategy for 2026, since it is a software that many users have great affection for. “It is one of the things that we have included in our strategy for this year and to which we want to pay more attention. It is something that we are going to study,” said Gołębiewski.
GOG.com’s new owner will begin providing more support for Linux
Kiciński continued to expose his problems with Microsoft’s operating system by talking about his personal experience. According to him, he currently usually uses Mac computers, but he made clear his frustration when it is his turn to help his parents with their Windows computers. “It’s incredible… I’m not surprised that there are people leaving the Windows ecosystem. It’s not the best ecosystem, that’s for sure.”, he commented.
Despite Kiciński’s criticism, Windows remains the dominant operating system among PC gamers by an overwhelming difference. According to data shared by Steam, more than 94% of users use it, compared to 3.5 who use Linux and 2.2 who use MacOS. Despite this, Linux is slowly gaining groundand part of its growth is due to the push from Valve and SteamOS, which use it for devices like the Steam Deck or the future Steam Machine.
