Rudy Giuliani Ordered to Court as Election Workers Seek Control of His Assets
Former New York City Mayor and Donald Trump’s former attorney Rudy Giuliani is facing increasing pressure from two election workers he defamed, Ruby Freeman and Shaye Moss. A federal judge has ordered Giuliani to appear in court this week after the workers claimed he is hiding assets that rightfully belong to them.
Giuliani Razed Assets, Leaving Apartment Bare
Freeman and Moss are seeking nearly $150 million in damages from Giuliani for defaming them following the 2020 election. Lawyers representing the mother and daughter duo recently visited Giuliani’s Manhattan apartment, expecting to inventory items that should be theirs under the court’s recent order.
However, they found the apartment "substantially empty," with most furniture and valuable sports memorabilia removed.
Claims of Evasion and Avoidance
Freeman and Moss’ attorney, Aaron Nathan, accused Giuliani and his legal team of "evasion and silence" in handling the legal proceedings.
They are also experiencing difficulty accessing Giuliani’s assets currently stored in a Long Island facility. Claims of hidden assets further fuel the tension, as they seek control of his $3.5 million Palm Beach condo and four Yankees World Series rings.
Giuliani Seeks to Avoid Travel and Loss of Income
Giuliani’s lawyer, Kenneth Caruso, argues that Giuliani’s radio broadcast for right-wing media platform founder Mike Lindell is his primary source of income and moving to New York for the court appearance would result in financial loss and travel expenses.
This case highlights the complex legal battle surrounding defamation and assets in high-profile disputes. Stay tuned for updates as this story unfolds.
