At 8 pm on Friday evening, the police wanted to stop a motorist at Burseryd, south of Gislaved. The motorist chose to drive on and then speeds were 110 kilometers per hour.
The journey continued and the police decided to use a nail mat to stop the car.
On road 26 at the height of Gislaved, the police stopped the car after the driver drove over the nail carpet. Afterwards, the man chose to run.
– A threatening situation arises and the patrol has assessed that it was so threatening that they fire their service weapon, says Angelica Israelsson Silfver, press spokesperson at the police.
What kind of threatening situation was that?
– A preliminary investigation has been launched and I cannot go into details, but it will be investigated what happened.
How is the man’s injury?
– The police treated the person afterwards and then an ambulance took care of the person.
The 25-year-old man was taken to hospital, but it is unclear what the injuries are.
He has been arrested and is suspected of serious threat to an official, serious crime against the Knife Act and carelessness in traffic. The incident will now be investigated by the Department for Special Investigations.
