The indonesian Automotive Industry Association (Gaikindo) is considering relocating the Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto show (GIIAS) exhibition from ICE-BSD City to Nice-PIK 2. Gaikindo has stated that the increasing number of GIIAS participants each year necessitates a larger venue.

Gaikindo Chairman Yohannes Nangoi commented recently in Jakarta, “You know everything. In the last GIIAS procurement, we have a name using a tent because the place is not enough. And this year we will still use tents.”

Nice (Nusantara International Convention Exhibition) at PIK 2 is being considered as a potential new location for GIIAS. Nice PIK 2 is currently under growth, and gaikindo has been exploring the possibility of moving the event there.

Nangoi added, “We are still exploring whether the new places are much more enough or not. But maybe the progress is when finished GIIAS (2025 later) we can decide.”

“I see them (nice) quite committed and they should be able to complete. The plan (indeed moved there) next year. But this is still not decided. We can still consider,” said Nangoi.

Nangoi stated that Nice in PIK 2 is the only Convention Hall that could rival Ice-BSD City. “It can be a little bigger. Approximately add around 25% (capacity),” said Nangoi.

Nice is designed to host a variety of large-scale events. It spans 40 hectares and includes three exhibition buildings with 11 exhibition halls.

Potential Move Hinges on Completion

“It can be a little bigger.Approximately add around 25% (capacity),”

The final decision regarding the relocation of GIIAS to Nice-PIK 2 will depend on the completion of the venue and further assessments by Gaikindo. The potential move could provide a larger and more modern space for the growing automotive exhibition.
