Barbara Corcoran: Why Luxury Travel Isn’t a Priority
Barbara Corcoran, the ever-entrepreneurial Shark Tank star, breaks the mold when it comes to air travel. While some might splurge on first-class tickets, Corcoran chooses to fly economy, prioritizing value and sharing the benefits with her loved ones.
Sharing the Wealth of Travel Miles
Corcoran revealed her travel strategy on The Jamie Kern Lima Show podcast, explaining that a coach ticket costs a fraction of a first-class fare. Instead of indulging in luxury seating, she accumulates free miles and generously bestows them upon her family, enabling them to afford vacations.
"What’s more important, that everybody gets free vacations or that I’m comfortable in first class? I guess I could afford to do both, but I won’t because I’ll be in coach feeling really smug because I know I have three plane tickets that could take somebody somewhere. It accumulates, you know?”
A Home Always Welcoming
Corcoran extends her generosity beyond travel, ensuring her various residences are always bustling with family.
"There’s not a single bed in any of my homes that’s ever empty,” she stated. “That is more satisfying than someone saying, ‘Thank you, we had a blast.’ Extended family, they’re family, whatever."
She elaborates that having all her properties brimming with activity stems from her wealth, explaining that the more money you have, the less you actually utilize your homes.
Beyond the Bed and Breakfast
While travel and real estate are part of her success, Corcoran also values shared experiences. She reveled in how much family members enjoy her ski chalet, beach house, and New York City apartment.
