The family still has some time before they have to report to the hospital. “I still have a whole list of chores,” says Gerdine. The hedge still needs to be pruned, the school treats need to be made, and her hospital bag still needs to be packed.
“There will soon be a for sale sign in our garden, so I want it to look neat,” says Gerdine while she is working on the hedge. “You will soon be in maternity bed with green fingers,” says her husband Maarten, laughing.
Maarten admits that he finds the birth ‘quite exciting’. “I also think it’s quite a thing the ninth time,” he adds. After the family has eaten, Gerdine and Maarten tell the children what their new sister’s name will be called: Eljada.
A little later something special happens in the sky: “A rainbow!” one of the children shouts. “And the baby is coming tonight or tomorrow.” According to Maarten it is a sign from God. “That is special,” he says. Gerdine is visibly touched and wipes the tears from her face.
Eljada is now several months old. In the video below Gerdine explains the meaning of her name.
