Team Colleagues or Rivals? The Difficult Relationship of Kubica with Russell

Russell’s congratulatory message is notable considering their relationship during their time together at Williams in 2019 was reportedly strained. Russell,a young talent from the Mercedes Academy with a British passport, was seemingly favored by Claire Williams. Though, the team, managed by the daughter of sir Frank Williams, struggled, and both drivers frequently enough finished near the back of the grid.

Kubica ultimately outperformed Russell that season, scoring one point for the team at the German Grand Prix, while Russell did not score any points.
