Today marks the premiere of Eliza McNitt’s short film, “ANCESTRA,” at the Tribeca Festival.The film centers on a mother’s story and what transpires when her child is born with a heart defect. “ANCESTRA” is the first of three short films resulting from a partnership between Google DeepMind and Primordial Soup, a storytelling innovation venture founded by director darren Aronofsky. The collaboration aims to integrate cutting-edge generative AI into the creative process of leading filmmakers, pushing the boundaries of both storytelling and technology.
The film blends live-action scenes with sequences generated by Veo,google DeepMind’s advanced video generation model. McNitt shared her perspective on using the technology,stating: “Veo is another lens through wich I get to imagine the universe around me.”
