Jakarta –
After being present on desktop since September, the Gemini feature is finally starting to appear in the Chrome application for iPhone and iPad.
Reports from 9to5Google and Engadget as reported on Saturday (13/12/2025) stated that this AI integration has now begun to be rolled out more widely, although the distribution is not yet evenly distributed to all iOS users.
Once this feature is active, Chrome users on iOS will see a new icon on the left side of the address bar. The icon takes the form of a note sheet with a Gemini star symbol in the corner, replacing Google Lens which was previously used for visual scanning.
SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT
By tapping the icon, users can directly ask questions about the content currently displayed on the screen, or request an automatic summary of the currently opened web page.
Its functionality is not as complete as the web version or the Gemini application, especially for long conversational interactions or tasks that require deeper context. However, the existence of this shortcut allows Chrome to provide quick answers without forcing users to leave the page they are reading.
This has the potential to be a quite relevant tool for those who want to digest information more quickly, from understanding long articles to looking for instant explanations regarding certain topics on the site that is being opened.
In order to try this feature, users must log in with a Google account in Chrome for iOS. The feature doesn’t work in Incognito mode and, at least for now, only supports English. Google seems to be just focusing on optimizing the initial integration before expanding additional languages and capabilities in the future.
If users still see the Google Lens icon instead of the Gemini icon, the recommended first step is to update the Chrome app via the App Store. If after the update the icon still doesn’t appear, it’s likely that the feature hasn’t been rolled out to the user’s account or region.
Google notes in its official support document that the rollout of this feature is gradual so some users may only get it in the next few days or weeks.
With this integration, Google is getting serious about pushing Gemini into its various products, including mobile browsers. Its presence in Chrome iOS shows that the AI push is now not only focused on Android devices or desktops, but also targeting Apple’s ecosystem which has been more closed.
