Boosting Efficiency: GCA Group’s New Logistics Center
The GCA Group has recently launched a state-of-the-art logistics center near Nantes, in Saint-Étienne de Montluc, marking a meaningful step towards optimizing vehicle distribution. This strategic move aims to drastically reduce both the planning time for used vehicles (VO) and the delivery times for new vehicles (VN) and used vehicles across the GCA Group’s network of dealerships.
Centralized Operations for Enhanced performance
With a strong presence in Nantes (44), encompassing Toyota-Llexus, Kia, Hyundai, Mitsubishi, and a robust used car operation in the city’s northern sector, alongside Toyota and Hyundai dealerships, and a Kia dealership in the south, the GCA group recognized the need to decongest its local concessions
. The new 17,000 m² logistics center in Saint-Étienne de Montluc is designed to consolidate key operations. The facility houses a bodywork repair shop (outsourced to a subcontractor serving both the group’s dealerships and fleet clients), a dedicated used vehicle preparation center, and a spacious storage area capable of accommodating hundreds of new vehicles.
Accelerating Turnaround: The 5-Day Preparation Target
The core objective of this industrial site is to streamline the vehicle handling process. New vehicles are received, meticulously stored based on incoming orders, prepared, and then dispatched to the appropriate dealerships. A primary goal is to shorten the delivery times of VNs as VOs
. By centralizing the reconditioning process for vehicles traded in at the group’s Nantes dealerships at the Saint-Étienne de Montluc facility, the GCA Group aims to reduce the used vehicle preparation time to just 5 days. These vehicles are then moved to a newly established multi-brand used car storage area nearby, ready for sale.
This initiative is particularly relevant given the current market trends. According to recent industry reports, efficient logistics and rapid turnaround times are crucial for maintaining competitiveness in both the new and used car markets. For example, a study by Automotive Logistics Magazine found that dealerships with optimized logistics processes experienced a 15% increase in sales volume compared to those with less efficient systems.
Expanding the Model: Future Growth Potential
While this industrial site represents a frist for the Choletais operator’s network on this scale, the GCA Group has implemented similar, albeit smaller, initiatives in Saint-Lô (Manche) and Caen (Calvados). The group has indicated that this strategy could school in Aquitaine,in the future
,suggesting potential expansion into other regions. This strategic approach to logistics optimization positions the GCA Group for continued growth and enhanced customer satisfaction in a competitive automotive market.
