Gas Leak Evacuations: Residents Sheltered

Due to a gas leak, approximately ten houses on Nassaulaan in Vlijmen were evacuated on Wednesday afternoon. The leak occurred in a house during asbestos removal work, the safety region reports.

The evacuated houses are on one side of the street. The residents are cared for by family or other local residents. Residents on the other side of the street do not have to evacuate. However, they must stay indoors. At least one street is closed due to the leak.

The grid operator shut off the gas supply around a quarter past three, the safety region reports. Several emergency services are also on site. The fire brigade is ventilating the houses around four o’clock and taking measurements.
