Chiara Poggi Murder Case Reopened: New Inconsistencies Emerge
By Amelia Romano | PAVIA – 2025/06/05 23:44:26
A renewed investigation into the 2007 murder of Chiara Poggi is underway, focusing on conflicting testimonies related to the alibi of Andrea Semplio. The mother of Andrea Semplio,Daniela Ferrari, stated,”I was in Gambolò to shop” on the morning of August 13,2007. Though, this statement is contradicted by two testimonies from a former firefighter from vigevano,a friend of daniela Ferrari.
Investigators are scrutinizing these discrepancies to either solidify or dismantle the alibi of Andrea Semplio, who is under investigation by the Pavia Prosecutor in connection wiht Chiara Poggi’s murder. The declarations made by Andrea Semplio’s parents are central to this renewed scrutiny. Should either parent’s account falter, the entire family’s reconstruction of events could be called into question.
Conflicting Accounts of the Morning in Question
The investigation was prompted by an analysis of Andrea Semplio’s telephone records, which led investigators to the former firefighter.records show several messages exchanged between him and Daniela Ferrari on the evening of August 12, and two more on the day of the crime, at 8:47 AM and 9:09 AM. The firefighter was interviewed twice and provided a version of events that sharply contrasts with that of daniela Ferrari.
On February 15, 2017, Daniela Ferrari stated: “I woke up around 7:30 AM. My son and husband were at home, already awake. I left around 8:15 AM to run errands, going to a nearby town for a gate remote control, then shopped in Gambolò, returning home around ten. My son was already dressed when I left. I gave him the car keys upon my return around noon, and he mentioned he had gone to the library but found it closed and then visited his grandmother.”
“I was in Gambolò to shop.”
though, the former firefighter’s account differs significantly, leading investigators to beleive that daniela Ferrari was in Vigevano, not Gambolò, on the morning of the murder. The firefighter was stationed at the barracks in Vigevano, where she allegedly dropped off a parking ticket. Prosecutors reportedly attempted to confront Daniela Ferrari with these inconsistencies, but were unsuccessful.
Intercepted Communications
On April 28, Daniela Ferrari was summoned to the Carabinieri barracks in via Moscova for questioning. She invoked her right not to answer. Before she could leave, investigators mentioned the firefighter, to which she reacted with dismay, questioning its relevance. She reportedly became distressed and left in tears, preventing investigators from confronting her with the conflicting statements.
The parking ticket provided by Andrea Semplio in 2008 was initially deemed compatible with the estimated timeframe of the murder-between 10:30 AM and 12:00 PM-seemingly excluding his presence at the crime scene. However, investigators are now reevaluating the timeline of Chiara’s death, narrowing it to a “presumed” window between 9:12 AM and 9:35 AM. Consequently, the parking ticket no longer serves as a definitive alibi, and the focus has shifted to Andrea Semplio’s presence in the family home on the morning of the crime.
A conversation between Andrea Semplio and his father, captured on February 10, 2017, reveals their discussion of the prosecutor’s questions.Giuseppe Semplio recounts, “They asked me: why didn’t he or your son tell her that Andrea was at home? I replied: look, it’s the first time they question me. I don’t know what my son said, I know he was at home with me because I woke up, I have coffee every morning, then he woke up and waited for his mother.”
When questioned on the same day by then-added Mario Venditti, andrea Semplio remained vague, stating, “I think my father was at home, but I can’t remember today if there was actually.”
On June 17, analyses of DNA traces and footprints detected at the crime scene are scheduled to begin. As Gian Luigi Tizzoni, lawyer of the poggi family, emphasized in the last hearing, the case against Alberto Stasi is “massacred, trained with eight years of processes and seven attempts so far in empty,” but the victim’s family is willing to find any assessment so that the prosecutor, after the third attempt to
