Heartbreaking Funeral for 13-Year-Old Enya Maria Celia McMurrough in Donegal
Gardaí in Donegal have issued a warning about heavy traffic in the area as Enya Maria Celia McMurrough, a 13-year-old girl, is laid to rest after her sudden death over the weekend at Crumlin Children’s Hospital.
Funeral Details and Traffic Alert
The funeral service for Enya Maria Celia McMurrough will be held at Teach Pobail Chríost Rí in Gortahork at 1 PM on Thursday, February 6th. Following the ceremony, interment will take place in the adjacent cemetery.
Gardaí have advised that traffic is expected to be heavy in the neighborhood around Christ the King Church, Gortahork, and the surrounding area between 12 PM and 3 PM on Thursday. They recommend taking alternative routes if possible to avoid traffic delays.
“Traffic is expected to be heavy around Christ the King Church, Gortahork and within the general Gortahork area, February 6th between 12pm and 3pm. Gardaí will be in the area assisting with traffic duties. Please take an alternative route between those times if possible as traffic delays are likely to occur.”
Remembering Enya: A Tributary from local School
Enya Maria Celia McMurrough, who passed away in her final year of primary school, left a lasting impact on her community. Her former school, Pobalscoil Chloich Cheannfhaola, shared a heartfelt tribute to Enya.
“Enya was a team player. Her attention to her school work was mature beyond her years. Her academic abilities reflected that of her teamwork in her many sporting and other pursuits. She always gave her best.”
The school went on to praise her for her contributions to the community through her music and dance. They remembered Enya’s kindness and warmth, which brought joy and laughter to all those around her.
“Enya, the person we got to know was kind, gentle, and caring. Her sense of humour and fun, positively affected everyone who met her, skipping along the halls at PCC.”

Various community groups, including Glenea Utd FC, have expressed their grief and suspended their activities to honor Enya’s memory.
