Fujifilm seems to be working on another compact camera innovation. This should have a sensor measuring 1 inch.
With the X100 series, Fujifilm has played a large part in the renaissance of the compact camera in recent years. We recently reported that manufacturers shipped more compact cameras in October 2025 than they have in years. The X100VI was most likely one of the most popular models.
Fujifilm has recently used the success of the X100V and Both cameras have an interesting concept and can easily be described as “extraordinary” – but neither model appeals to the general public. The GFX100RF with its medium format sensor is too expensive and too large, while the concept of the X-Half is too special for some.
New compact camera with 1-inch sensor planned
There are now indications that Fujifilm could soon bring a compact camera that is more suitable for the masses onto the market. A reliable source from Fujirumors has revealed that Fujifilm is working on a new compact camera with a 1-inch sensor.
Exact details about which camera this is are not yet known. In a survey some time ago, a clear majority of the Fujifilm community wanted a new edition of the Fujifilm X30. The X30 came onto the market in 2014 and had a 2/3-inch sensor, so a new edition with a slightly larger 1-inch sensor could in principle be realistic. In contrast to the X100 series, the X30 also had a zoom lens, in the case of the
Panasonic, Nikon, OM System and, to some extent, Sony and Canon continue to act rather cautiously in the compact camera segment. To be honest, I’m not surprised that Fujifilm is now the manufacturer that will probably bring a new compact camera onto the market soon.
