Florida State defeated Ohio State 4-1 in the Elite 8 of the NCAA women’s soccer tournament on Nov. 28 in Tallahassee, Florida.
The Seminoles, ranked No. 6, took a 2-0 lead into halftime, with Jordyn Dudley scoring in the 36th and 40th minutes. Ohio State’s Amanda Schlueter scored to cut the lead to 2-1 in the 50th minute, but FSU’s Yuna McCormack scored a minute later, then Wrianna Hudson scored again in the 85th minute.
Schlueter’s goal was her 11th of the season, and she finished the year with 27 points. Senior goalkeeper Molly Pritchard made eight saves, moving her past Nicole Morris (1994-96) for the second-most saves in program history with 306.
This was the first Elite Eight game in 15 years for the Buckeyes, who finished 11-5-6. Florida State is 13-2-4 and will face either TCU or Vanderbilt in the Final Four on Dec. 5. The other semifinal has Stanford facing Duke.
