A New Chapter for Kromp: From Analyst to Sideline Strategist
Friederike “Fritzy” Kromp, renowned for her insightful analysis as a ZDF expert alongside figures like Per Mertesacker and Christoph Kramer, is set to embark on a new challenge. Starting this summer, she will take over as head coach of SV Werder Bremen’s women’s team, adding a new dimension to her already notable career.
Werder Bremen Secures a Top Talent
Werder Bremen announced the appointment of Kromp, 40, on Tuesday, signaling a strategic move to bolster their women’s Bundesliga squad. She will succeed Thomas horsch, the outgoing coach, and officially begin her duties in early July. Before joining Werder Bremen,Kromp will conclude her role as the U20 coach at league rival Eintracht Frankfurt until June 30th.

Kromp’s Impressive Track Record
Kromp’s coaching credentials include a prosperous stint as an assistant coach for the German U17 national team,where she contributed to three European Championship titles. In 2022, she led the team to European Championship glory as head coach and secured a fourth-place finish at the World Cup. These achievements underscore her ability to develop young talent and build winning teams.
Balancing Analysis and Coaching
Despite her new coaching role, Kromp will continue her work as a ZDF expert, providing analysis during the European Women’s Championship in Switzerland this July. However, before that, she is scheduled to provide her expert analysis for ZDF during the DFB Cup semi-final match between VfB Stuttgart and RB Leipzig.
