Free Vaccinations: Piazza Castelnuovo – 2 Days Only

by Archynetys Health Desk

While the flu is raging and knocking out thousands of people, the ASP is organizing two days in Piazza Castelnuovo – tomorrow and Sunday – dedicated to prevention and free vaccination against the virus. Influ Day (this is the name of the initiative) will be held from 10am to 6pm in the most central square of the city.

To get vaccinated it will be sufficient to show an identity document and a health card: “This is a concrete opportunity to protect oneself and the most fragile people around us, in a phase in which the circulation of influenza viruses continues to be high” we read in a note from the ASP. “Even at this moment of the season – underlines the new general director of the health company, Alberto Firenze – the flu vaccination is effective and recommended to reduce the risk of complications and contain the pressure on health services”.

The initiative is carried out in collaboration with the Sicily Army Military Command and the ASP will be present with its own mobile clinics and qualified healthcare personnel. “We are experiencing a phase of significant flu emergency – continues Alberto Firenze – we have decided to further strengthen our campaign, bringing the vaccine to the places of greatest aggregation. Getting vaccinated today means protecting yourself, but also contributing to the protection of collective health. Piazza Castelnuovo represents a strategic point to reach the greatest possible number of citizens with a simple, free and immediate service”.

Tomorrow (Saturday 17 January) in Piazza Castelnuovo there will also be the ASP camper dedicated to sexually transmitted infectious diseases. It will be possible to carry out free screening for HIV, hepatitis C and syphilis through a simple blood test, as part of the prevention and early diagnosis activities promoted by the healthcare company.
