Heat and sunshine will return to a large part of France, according to Météo France forecasts.
Store your mittens, scarves, and other protection against the cold. Winter has not even arrived yet when the air of spring will blow over France. Because after the low temperatures of the last few days, the thermometer will rise.
In some cities, the temperature between Friday and Sunday will triple, such as in Marseille where the minimums are 6°C this Friday and the maximums will be 18°C at the end of the week. The people of Bordeaux will wake up on Monday with a magnificent 11°C on the thermometer which will rise to 18°C in the afternoon, according to preliminary estimates from Météo France.
In Paris, same phenomenon, the maximums for this Sunday are announced at 17°C. Even in the North, in Lille, temperatures will rise sharply at the end of the weekend and the beginning of next week, going from 2°C Friday morning to 11°C Monday morning.

Despite this predicted mildness, the sun will not be out everywhere in France. According to Météo France, the country will remain under depression influence on Sunday with disrupted weather over a large part of the territory. Rain is expected in the northern two-thirds of the country, particularly in Paris, Lille and Rennes where precipitation will accompany this mild spell. Wind gusts will reach 45 to 65 km/h on the Atlantic coast.
On the other hand, the Mediterranean rim should benefit from milder conditions, with clearings in Marseille, Nice and Montpellier, even if some morning mists will persist.
We will have to wait until Monday and especially Tuesday to see the sun peek out over a large part of France. In Bordeaux, the sun is forecast with 19°C, while Lyon, Nice and Paris will also benefit from nice clear periods with 16°C.
However, you still have to wait a little to know the weather report for the beginning of the week with precision, the reliability of the forecasts naturally decreasing after a few days.
As for the end-of-year holidays, initial estimates have been published by La Chaîne Météo, but the outlook remains uncertain. “No strong trend is evident for Christmas week,” notes Régis Crêpet, meteorologist for La Chaîne Météo. The models generally favor still changeable weather with temperatures close to seasonal norms.
Will we experience snow at Christmas? “A colder sequence is not excluded if blocking conditions were to develop between Greenland and Scandinavia,” specifies Régis Crêpet. However, this scenario is not the most likely, even if snow in the mountains should be there.
A few days earlier, in the week of December 15-21, snow could even reach lower altitudes. “The cold air will slide further towards central Europe and could occasionally reach France, especially in the north and east. For this week, the probability of more wintry episodes is higher,” observes Régis Crêpet.
