The latest leak claims that there are indications that Fortnite is developing an extraction shooter mode in the battle royale game.
Fortnite is rumored to be experimenting with a new genre. After being successful with various game modes, such as building a city via Lego, music games at Festivals, and Ballistic which emulates Counter-Strike, now the battle royale game is said to be preparing an Extraction shooter mode.
This leak comes from a fairly credible leaker, bloomingwhich found a number of suspicious plugins within the game files. The plugins are explicitly labeled “Extraction” and “ExtractionQuests”, indicating that Epic Games has at least been, or is still, working on modes with those concepts. Even so, until now Epic Games has not provided official confirmation, so there is always the possibility that this project will be canceled midway.

This move is actually not completely surprising. Fortnite has recently become more aggressive in experimenting with new formats, including through objective-based tactical modes such as Fortnite Ballistic. In fact, another leaker named Loolio previously also found indications of the existence of NPCs in Extraction mode, strengthening the suspicion that the concept is more complex than just ordinary PvP.
What do you think if this battle royale game for millions of people really embodies the extraction game mode? Are you interested in trying it in the future? Still talking about Fortnite, did you know that the battle royale game is currently having problems with its release on Apple platforms in Japan?
