The work done by Ence Terrathe initiative of Ence which integrates all its forestry activity, meant that during 2025 a thousand forest owners would be advised both in the Mariñana region and in Western Asturias with a view to optimizing the production of the wood they use in the factory that the company has in the Asturian town of ship. At the same time, the company also improved the wood park available in these facilities and that will change even more with the plan that Ence will carry out, introducing a different management system and with more implementation of artificial intelligence.
The work they do with timber owners is done in a way that increasingly works on the personalized advice and for each farm. From Ence they affirm that these technical recommendations they made had an impact “on more than 4,500 hectares of forest.”
Fertilization recommendations
They include fertilization recommendations “adjusted to each plot based on a network of more than 1,500 soil samples and analyzes carried out, a network that will allow the optimization of nutritional management and productivity of forest masses.”
Last year Ence also launched the mobile workshop service, in collaboration with different specialized workshops, with the aim of addressing machinery breakdowns directly in the mountains.
In order to articulate this service, designed a mobile application and a web platform that, according to the company, “reduces repair times and guarantees the continuity of forestry work.” Furthermore, they add that “it is complemented by the replacement machinery service, which allows activity to be maintained when repairs require more time.”
Courses at their facilities in Vilalba
Another section in which they claim to have influenced during the past year is that of prevention of occupational accidents. To do this, they taught various courses, most of them in their facilities. Vilalba, in which around thirty forestry machinists participated who attended specific programs in which emphasis was placed on improving preventive awareness and on “sharing good safety practices, in addition to delving into aspects related to the maintenance and handling of equipment.” The objective is to gain security so that it is reflected in the performance of the mountain.
