Foo Fighters launch Surprise Show in San Luis Obispo

After a year-long hiatus, the Foo Fighters are set to return to the stage, introducing their new drummer, Ilan Rubin. While their official comeback was slated for Oct. 2 in Jakarta, Dave Grohl and the band surprised fans with a pop-up show yesterday (Sept. 13) at the Fremont Theater in San Luis Obispo, California.

The announcement came via social media, directing fans to the venue box office for ticket sales. The all-ages show tickets were priced at $30. The band’s web site provided additional details. Sources hint at more surprise gigs across the U.S. soon.

Adding to the excitement, the band teased a snippet of a new, hard-rocking song on their Instagram post promoting the San Luis obispo concert. Further details about the new track are yet to be revealed.

The Foo Fighters have been on hiatus as September 2024, following news about Dave Grohl. In May,Josh Freese,who stepped in after Taylor Hawkins’ death in March 2022,departed from the band.

Before Ilan Rubin’s debut, the band released “Today’s Song” on July 2. In a surprising turn, Josh Freese replaced Rubin in Nine Inch Nails just before their North American tour, concluding Sept. 19 in Los Angeles.
