Fogging in Palangka Raya: Fighting Aedes aegypti Mosquitoes

by Archynetys Health Desk

Palangka Raya — The Palangka Raya City Health Service together with the Bukit Hindu Community Health Center carried out fogging in residential areas of RT 02 RW 07 Jalan Mendawai Induk Ujung, Monday, January 26 2026. This step was taken following the increase in cases of Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DBD) which caused dozens of residents to undergo medical treatment.

Head of the Palangka Raya City Health Service, Riduan, said that fogging was carried out to suppress the population of the Aedes aegypti mosquito, which is the main vector for transmitting the dengue virus. “Fogging is a quick response to reports of dengue fever cases in this area,” said Riduan.

However, Riduan emphasized that fumigation is only temporary and cannot be the main solution for preventing dengue fever. According to him, the most effective efforts still come from the active role of the community through eradicating mosquito nests (PSN).

He appealed to residents to implement the 3M Plus movement, namely draining and closing water reservoirs, recycling used goods, and taking additional preventive measures such as using anti-mosquito medication and maintaining a clean environment. “DHF prevention starts from each individual’s home,” he said.

A resident of RT 02 RW 07 expressed his appreciation for the quick response from the Health Service and the Bukit Hindu Community Health Center. He hopes that fogging activities can reduce the number of mosquitoes and prevent wider transmission in the environment where he lives.

The Palangka Raya City Health Service together with the local health center stated that they would continue to monitor, collect data on cases and provide health education to the public to prevent the spread of dengue fever in the city area. (*/rls/tim/ed)
