More and more people are dependent on social markets. Those of the Samaritan Association on the left of the Danube are open from 8 a.m. The measure is a response to increased demand.
VIENNA/FLORIDSDORF/DONAUSTADT. Demand in Vienna‘s social markets is increasing. It was only in October that the Samaritan Association sounded the alarm: goods, especially basic foods, were increasingly out of stock. Since more and more people are dependent on the social markets, it was decided to adjust the opening times on the left of the Danube.
The Samaritan Association Floridsdorf-Donaustadt is now opening its gates earlier. Both the one at Frömmelgasse 31 in the 21st district and the one at Wagramer Straße 94 in the 22nd district are open from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Purchase only under certain conditions
In order to shop here, you need a social market card, which households under specified income limits can apply for locally. For individuals this is around 1,661 euros per month.
For two people, the monthly household income may not exceed 2,492 euros. Children are also counted: a maximum of 498 euros per month per child can be added to the income so that you still receive eligibility. Registration for a social market card is possible in the markets. You can read details about the income limits here.
