Vianney’s Gift: A Song Two Years in the Making

The collaboration between Pagny and Vianney adds another layer of significance to the song. Vianney, who previously opened for Pagny early in his career, offered him “Still Loving You” two years ago, during Pagny’s cancer treatment. At the time, Pagny felt it wasn’t the right moment to release the song, but recognized its profound message. As Pagny told RTL, the song arrived at a pivotal moment, carrying a message that resonated deeply with his experience, yet held universal appeal.

She arrived on January 12, 2023. I am right in the story (from my cancer). I say, ‘good, listen, you sent me a magnificent song, a magnificent message that concerns me, but which can concern a lot of people’. However,I will not sing it right away. So, we will wait a bit and I will see when I want to go back.

This isn’t the first time the two artists have been linked. They previously collaborated on a cover of Jacques Brel’s “Vesoul.” Vianney also co-wrote “Encore,” a song Pagny recorded with Kendji Girac in 2022.
