Flood risk alert activated

Given the episode of heavy rains in the city, this Tuesday, December 16, 2025, the municipal emergency action plan has been activated due to the risk of drainage insufficiency, in the alert phase. Citizens are recommended to increase caution and avoid crossing flood-prone areas, and, at home, to remove objects that could be swept away by water.

At home

  • Close doors and windows and check roofs, lightning rods, drains and downspoutsand eliminates accumulations of garbage.
  • Disconnect electrical appliances and remove furniture and objects that could be dragged by the water from outside.
  • Do not leave objects out or furniture that the water can drag away.
  • Bring pets into the home.
  • Save toxic products out of reach of water.
  • Ten useful items at hand: a mobile phone and a charger, essential medications, warm clothing and personal documentation.
  • Do not go down to flood-prone areas at homesuch as the basement, garage, etc.
  • If the house floods, turn off the main electricity switch.
  • If the building you are in is not safe, leave, close the door and go to a high point in the area.

  • Seek refuge within a secure building and close the doors and windows tightly.
  • Do not cross, neither on foot nor by car, torrents, streams, underpasses nor areas that can flood, because that is where most deaths occur. It is better to wait or find an alternative route.

  • Moderate your speed.
  • Brake smoothly.
  • If necessary, stop.
  • Do not cross flooded areas or park your vehicle in torrents or flood-prone areas.
  • Maintain a safe distance from other vehicles.

Abandon the vehicle and go to higher areas when:

  • The vehicle is immobilized by water.
  • He water level rises too high to the road.
  • The water reaches the axle of the vehicle.
