Baltimore native Zion Elee, ranked as the No. 1 recruit in the 2026 class by On3, has made a decision that’s sure to excite Maryland football fans. The five-star edge rusher has committed to playing for the Terrapins, choosing his in-state school over a host of high-profile programs.
Elee’s Commitment
Elee confirmed his commitment to Maryland, stating, “I think Maryland is a great school. What made me make the decision is the coaches. They’re really good people and I really connected with them on an outside level.”
The 2026 recruit was heavily recruited by programs across the country including Oregon, Penn State, Florida, Tennessee, Miami, and Texas A&M, demonstrating his exceptional talent. However, Elee ultimately decided to stay home, explaining, “I want to go somewhere and make that connection early. I always liked the environment. The coaches and visits were nice. I put everything aside and thought what do I actually want to do? I really thought about it and I wanted to stay home.”
