According to witness statements, the man’s car crashed into a street lamp and a fence on Albert-Prochnow-Strasse. The Cottbus public prosecutor’s office and the police are investigating the course of events and the background to the crime.
Prosecutor Martin Mache told rbb on Monday when asked that the deceased had injuries in the upper body area. The victim died from multiple stab wounds to the upper body and neck area, Mache said. That’s what the autopsy revealed on Saturday. “The stabs led to massive blood loss and injury to lung tissue, from which he ultimately died,” said Mache.
The public prosecutor’s office is looking for witnesses in this connection. The exact course of the crime is the subject of the current investigation, including the question of whether, for example, another vehicle was involved in the incident. Witnesses should therefore contact the public prosecutor’s office directly.
