Sar-Queen made discoveries

Of the soldiers who came to the right, three of them showed up at the agreed meeting place, while two were found by SAR-Queen in the search area, adds police operations chief Jørgen Haukland Hansen.

Furthermore, the last five soldiers are sought.

– We are still working on two theories. One is that the soldiers have misunderstood attendance or spent longer than planned. The second is that some form of injury may have occurred or that you have passed away. We are still looking for the last five soldiers all the time they are not accounted for, says Jørgen Haukland Hansen.

Initiated exploration action

The ten soldiers missing in the Bugøynes area participate in an ongoing exercise. The soldiers were reported missing when they did not report at a point as agreed, at seven o’clock on Thursday morning.

-Police, Norwegian rescue dogs, the Red Cross, the Armed Forces, the police drones and the Sar-Queen are now in search, police say on Thursday.

Press officer at the Armed Forces Operational Headquarters (FOH) in Bodø, Vegard Norsta Finberg, confirms on Thursday night that the missing soldiers are in an ongoing exercise.

– Without going into detail about the exercise, the exploration action was implemented because these soldiers did not report as agreed. As part of the exercise, the soldiers will report on so -called points during the exercise. When this was not done, exploration action was implemented, says Finberg.
