The NR published, on November 17, 2025, an article in which Jérôme Bâcle, the director of the Deux-Sèvres Education League, expressed his fears for the future of popular education.
This interview made Daniel Mosser react: three years ago, this independent director and producer (his production house is called DNM) devoted a documentary to this theme, focusing on the Saivres Popular Education Society on the occasion of its centenary. In this 40-minute film, we (re)discover the story of this Sep launched by the town’s teachers, Edmond Proust and Jean Lauroua, future founders and leaders of the MAIF, told by those who experienced it.
Regretting that this documentary has not yet really met the audience he hoped for, Daniel Mosser remains convinced that it deserves to be broadcast in all schools, as the starting point for a discussion on this education done “for and by”, as an example of what could form a common base.
