The French daily “Le Monde” revealed the salary of FIFA president Gianni Infantino. The newspaper referred to the tax documents that the world football powerhouse is required to submit annually to the US authorities.
At the helm of the world football powerhouse since 2016, when he replaced Sepp Blatter, Gianni Infantino has started living large. Since then, with each passing year, the president’s remuneration has skyrocketed, and he is currently paid as much as a top player or coach in Europe’s major leagues.
Journalists from the French daily Le Monde revealed the details by referring to tax returns called “forms 990” that FIFA, a Swiss non-profit association that has been tax-exempt in the US since June 1994, is required to file annually with the Federal Internal Revenue Service (IRS).
According to those tax filings, the International Association of Amateur Soccer paid its boss just over $6 million a year through 2024 in salaries, bonuses and other contractual benefits. More precisely, 6.133 million dollars (5.27 million euros).
The $6.133 million breakdown includes $2.954 million in base salary, $1.874 million in bonuses, $1.148 million in “other reported compensation” and $155,000 in “pension and other deferred compensation.”
Eight years earlier, FIFA had declared to the US authorities only 1.5 million dollars (1.28 million euros) for Gianni Infantino, which means that the income of the president of the world football powerhouse has grown in almost 10 years just over 4 times.
