Fico: Slovakia & Ukraine Funding – News | Fakti.bg

I will not sign any guarantee for the financing of Ukraine’s military expenses in the next two years, and Slovakia will not participate “even with one cent” in the financing of Kiev, Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico said today, quoted by the TASR agency, BTA reported.

After a meeting of his government, Fico said he wanted to initiate an extraordinary parliamentary session on this issue.

The Slovak Prime Minister also commented on the information that the USA may eventually reduce the presence of American troops on NATO’s eastern flank, which may also affect Slovakia. “For me, this is a confirmation of how rational US President Donald Trump is. To a certain extent, he is right. Europe lives luxuriously by relying on the presence of US troops. We had the feeling that everything was working. The US president said he needed resources elsewhere,” Fizzo explained, adding that he was not surprised or worried by Trump’s “pragmatic attitude”.

The Romanian Minister of National Defense Ionuc Mostianu hinted at a press conference today that the reduction of the presence of American troops on NATO’s eastern flank may also affect Slovakia, notes TASR. “It is important to emphasize that this is not a withdrawal of US forces, but rather a reversal of the rotation of a brigade that had troops in several NATO countries, including Bulgaria, Romania, Slovakia and Hungary,” Mostianu said.
