Feyenoord Quality Concerns | Fan Opinion

Mario Been has joined the Dick voorMekaar Podcast critically expressed about the current situation at Feyenoord. The former coach of the Rotterdam team states that the selection is lacking in quality and sees that trainer Robin van Persie has little confidence in the players currently on the bench.

According to Been, an important problem lies with the composition of the selection. ”Little changes at Feyenoord, but I already said it at the beginning. Feyenoord does not have sufficient quality, I firmly support that,” he says. ”If a left back gets injured, you have another left back who is on the left wing. On the bench you have someone worth eleven million euros who is not allowed to substitute. So that says enough to me. The eleven million is also not good enough, the wingers are not good enough. We’re also going to mix everything up for Sterling.”

The former coach also believes that Feyenoord has not benefited sufficiently from the investments in new players. ”They have purchased very moderately. Van Persie has no confidence at all in players who are on the bench, which is more than twenty million euros. I don’t know if Diarra is completely fit, but it turns out not to be enough.”

According to Been, the technical staff could have solved the situation in the left back position more easily. ”If you could have solved it very simply by bringing back a left back and putting Borges there, who cost a fortune, but everything revolves around Raheem the Dream. This is unbearable anymore.”

Been is also critical of Feyenoord’s game. ”From a football point of view it is all very difficult. It is said that Ueda is not being served well, but I don’t think he is really great at the moment in playing football either,” said Been. ”Then you’re lucky that the rest don’t feel like coming second either. It’s a struggle to the end. Coming in second would be a great prize, then in the end you have done okay if you look purely at the money that comes in.”

Who do you think is the biggest problem at Feyenoord right now?
