Fernando López Reflects on National Intersector Participation

The Balopal CD male children’s team recently participated in the national
intersector competition held in Navarra.
Fernando López, coach and sports director, shared his insights on the team’s performance
and the overall experience.

“Well, hot something bitter because we would like to have gone with some
victory,” said López. He acknowledged the team’s close game against Sanse handball and strong
performances against Noain and Maracena. “I know that, with the passage of
time we will value much more what is achieved, especially what it is for
players at the level of competitive experience.”

“assume that when the final phases arrive and fatigue appears and plays to
play less minutes to be fresh the next day or as your game profile does
not adapt to what the opponent raises is complicated…”

López praised the players’ work ethic and behavior throughout the weekend, noting
thier assumption of being among the elite of national handball and striving
for excellence. He emphasized the significant step the tournament represented
for the team, especially considering their strong performance in Castilla y
león, where they only lost three games during the season.

Lessons Learned and Future Goals

López believes the players learned valuable lessons about competing at a high
level and the importance of maximum effort.he highlighted the team’s
dedication, with 143 training sessions and a 92% average attendance over the
past two years.

López also addressed the challenges of managing individual roles within the team,
especially for 13-year-old players. He stressed the importance of
collective effort over individual statistics, a concept that requires
continuous work in today’s society.

Looking ahead, López aims to continue improving the team, increasing physical training and
individual work. He also plans to prepare the players for the transition to
cadets, ensuring they have the right stimuli to improve.

Club-Wide Assessment and Future Direction

Beyond the male children’s team, López believes the club has made progress in prioritizing the athlete and
fostering ambition both on and off the court. He acknowledges the challenges
posed by other triumphant youth programs but remains motivated by the ongoing
development process.

López emphasizes the importance of putting the player and coach at the center,
providing them with the means to improve. This approach, from the first team
to the school level,is driven by a shared desire to excel.
