Fernando Carrillo & Venezuela President: Relationship Revealed

by Archynetys Entertainment Desk

During the 90s, Fernando Carrillo was one of the most recognized faces of Latin American soap operas. His leading role in Abigailtogether with Catherine Fulopestablished him as a leading man and turned fiction into reality when they both decided to get married. The marriage, however, was brief.

While Fulop continued his career in Argentina and formed one of the most stable couples in the show with Osvaldo Sabatini —with whom he had Oriana Sabatini, today an entertainment figure and wife of soccer player Paulo Dybala—, Carrillo took another direction. The actor moved to Mexico, where he starred in successful productions such as Rosalindaalong with Thalía, and Maria Isabelwith Adela Noriega.

In recent years, however, his name has been away from the recording sets and closer to political controversy. Carrillo has become one of the most visible public defenders of Nicolás Maduro, who is currently facing judicial proceedings in the United States after being captured in Caracas on January 3, in an operation attributed to the DEA.

This Monday, January 5, after Delcy Rodríguez was sworn in as interim president of Venezuela, the actor gave several interviews to international media. In them, he reiterated his support for Maduro and assured that he trusted that both he and his wife, Cilia Flores, will be declared innocent by the American justice system.

However, what drew the most attention was her forceful defense of Delcy Rodríguez against rumors that she had collaborated with the US authorities to capture the president. Carrillo not only discarded that version, but also revealed a personal link with the current president.

According to the actor, the two had a romantic relationship. between 2006 and 2007, although Carrillo assured that there were three years of relationship. “I know her very well. She was my partner and I am sure that the betrayal did not come from there,” he stated.

He even went so far as to describe her as “the great love of my life” and highlight their loyalty and character. “I have not met a more faithful, loyal and brave woman.”he pointed out, defending the person who today heads the Miraflores Palace.

So, Fernando Carrillo makes headlines again, this time far from romance television program that made him famous and increasingly linked to one of the most controversial stages of Venezuelan politics.
