Ferenčák will not be the first chairman of the committee to be dismissed in the current election period. The coalition dismissed Mária Kolíková from SaS and Michal Šipoš from Hnutia Slovensko from their posts in one day. Kolíková was the chairperson of the committee to control the activities of SIS, Šipoš headed the committee for public administration and regional development.
Ferenčák: I will react adequately
“I understand that Peter Kmec deserves a reward for a job well done, he fulfilled everything that was expected of him. The fact that it didn’t work out, it didn’t work out. Not everything in life works out for you, but he managed to sign subsidies for several tens of millions of euros, even for the company of the president’s adviser. His reward is the position of chairman of the committee,” responds Ján Ferenčák. He claims that he learned about the proposal for his dismissal from the ministers’ statements after last week’s government meeting, but no one from the management informed him of the news personally.
The deputy from Pelle’s original eleven expects that he will not have the support of his colleagues in the secret election. “I criticize the lack of communication in Hlas. This decision came at the request of the party’s close leadership, maybe three people, and now they will convince the public that it was a proposal of the whole club. But I am also part of the club and I do not agree. Puci-palec decided again, from my point of view it is so violent,” responds Ferenčák.
In Hlas Ferenčák, they criticize him for not participating in party meetings and not holding the line during votes in the parliament. Ľubica Laššáková already said during the last meeting that he should not have the opportunity to represent the party in the position of chairman of the committee. Ferenčák defends himself by saying that two weeks ago he met with Hlas chairman Matúš Šutaj Eštok and they agreed that they would solve the problems in the party as a pair.
Despite everything, Ján Ferenčák is not planning to leave Hlas even now. “Let’s keep that open,” he says. However, he no longer feels bound to vote with Hlas in the future. However, this is not new for the party leadership. He has been perceived as problematic in the party for a long time. “Everyone who submits a proposal to the National Council today must take into account that Ferenčák does not have to vote for him, because he will say that he simply does not vote. This will not surprise anyone, I think that the coalition colleagues have already stated several times that there are 78 coalition votes, because Ferenčák votes one way, one time,” said Róbert Puci
Ferenčák has stated in the past that he feels bound only by enforcing what is in the government’s program.
The door is open to former rebels
Even though he and Ján Ferenčák are no longer included in the coalition, the remaining three ex-members of Hlas declare their support for him.
“We admire his patience, which he shows in communication with the representatives of the Hlas-SD party. We carefully monitor the situation around him and see that history is repeating itself,” evaluates Samuel Migaľ, who after the coalition crisis became Smer’s nominee for the department of informatization. Together with Migaľ, Radomír Šalitroš, Migaľ’s state secretary, also left the parliament for the executive. Šalitroš adds that even today he and Ferenčák maintain communication, “Mr. Ferenčák and I have close relations, but if we are negotiating something, I will certainly not confirm it on the phone”.
Minister of Sports Rudolf Huliak could also be interested in Ferenčák, who already claimed in September that he has five deputies in the parliament. However, he refused to name names.
