On tuesday, May 6, 2025, Germany will witness a pivotal moment in its political landscape with the election of the federal Chancellor, conducted in accordance with article 63 (1) of the Basic Law. Following the election, the Federal President is scheduled to formally appoint the newly elected Chancellor around 10:30 a.m. Later that day, at approximately 12:30 p.m., the new Federal Cabinet will be appointed, an event traditionally marked by a meaningful address from the Federal President.

Phoenix will provide a live broadcast of the election and appointment ceremonies. Moreover, both the Chancellor’s appointment and the subsequent appointment of the new Federal Cabinet will be streamed live on the Federal President’s official YouTube channel.

In-Person Access for Media Representatives
accredited media representatives will have the chance to attend the events in person. Admission to the Chancellor’s appointment is scheduled from 9:00 a.m. to 10:15 a.m., while admission to the appointment of the new Federal Cabinet will take place from 11:00 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Media representatives are permitted to remain within the Federal President’s Office between the two appointments.
