Today, elections took place in numerous municipalities in the canton of Zurich. The FDP is satisfied with the results. Particularly pleasing: winning a second seat in the Winterthur city council and two additional seats in the Zurich city council. A bitter pill is the loss of the second city council seat in Zurich.
The FDP assumes government responsibility in most rural communities. A good 20 percent of all municipal councils in the canton of Zurich are still held by the FDP. This broad commitment in the communities shows that the population has great trust in the work of liberal executive politicians.
The FDP achieved pleasing results, particularly in individual parliamentary municipalities. The city council was won in Adliswil. In Opfikon and Schlieren, the parties in parliament made significant gains. They increased their share of voters by 2 or 3.5 percent.
In addition, in many communities FDP members are involved in important authorities, such as school maintenance or audit committees. This commitment contributes significantly to functioning and responsible community politics.

We are pleased by this trust and at the same time it is an incentive to continue to work hard for strong communities in the canton of Zurich.”
