Qualcomm has recently published official benchmarks for the Snapdragon 8 Elite 5 5, and results are surprisingly good comparison with the Apple A19 Pro processor. It is for the first time in the last few years when Qualcomm can even seriously compete with the CuperTino manufacturer.
Specifically, in synthetic tests such as Geekbench, Gen 5 reaches performance comparable to Apple A19 Pro. In addition, compared to the previous generation, Snapdragon 8 Elite, now the performance of the new chip have increased by 18% in terms of speed for single-core and by 19% for multi-core. Thus, Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 is beaten on a par with A19 Pro, and in multi-core it even exceeds it, the advantage coming from the larger number of cores.
On the graphic side, the Adreno 840 GPU brings significant earnings: +16% in GFXBench Manhattan, +34% in Normal Ruins and +39% in High Aztec, compared to the last generation. In some tests, Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 clearly exceeds Android rivals, such as Dimensity 9500 or Exynos 2600, and approaches the graphic performances of the latest iPhone.
The processor is manufactured on the TSMC N3P process and there is a chance that, with the appearance of several commercial devices, it will exceed the 4,000-point threshold in Geekbench 6.4 single-core.
On the other hand, Apple is not based only on brutal figures and hardware and software optimization, energy efficiency and how the system manages long -term pregnancies. Thus, in everyday life all this matters more when you use the phone for hours, than during synthetic tests. This means that although Snapdragon equates or even exceeds in a benchmark, in real life the differences can be truly noticeable in continuous use scenarios (gaming, video editing, complex applications).
