Farmers Cut A4 In Macedo De Cavaleiros…

by drbyos

Farmers returned to protests in Bragança and Vila Flor this Thursday. In Macedo de Cavaleiros, the Lamas and Amendoeira junctions were cut off from the A4 in both directions.

The concentration began at 5am at the Amendoeira junction, which gives access to IP2, where they tried to put a tractor in the wrong direction. They were unable to do so because there was a strong GNR device, which arrived at several access points to the highways at 11pm on Wednesday and identified all the tractors present at the location.

Early in the morning, farmers broke the fence next to the highway and ended up putting their tractors on the road.

Speaking to RTP, one of the farmers stated that the objective was “to enter the A4 peacefully, the GNR did not allow it and we decided to take other measures”.
Farmers protesting in Macedo de Cavaleiros, in the district of Bragança, will meet today and Monday with the Minister of Agriculture, a source from the organization told Lusa.
For now, they intend to remain in place “firmly, to show our anger to the Minister of Agriculture. We must take other measures if necessary. But she will have to listen to us. We want to be heard by her.”

At issue are the subsidies that are not being paid on time, the price of fuel at a more affordable price.

In the district of Bragança, there is another protest by farmers at the Lodões junction, in Vila Flor.

The organization estimates that around 300 farmers are concentrated, from Macedo de Cavaleiros, Mirandela, Alfândega da Fé, Vimioso, Bragança, Vinhais, Mogadouro and Valpaços, in the district of Vila Real at various protest points.

Protests in Europe Farmers continue to mobilize in protest actions across Europe, despite concessions from Brussels and other capitals, in a wave of protest that is also ‘heating up’ the pre-campaign for the European elections.

Although the protests have subsided significantly in France and Germany, where the biggest fighting took place at the beginning of a protest that spread across the European Union (EU), the roads of several Member States, from Portugal to Bulgaria, remain witnessing blockades and idling of tractors, with the farmer ‘revolt’ particularly visible in countries such as Spain, Italy, Greece and the Netherlands.

In Spain, security forces detained 12 people on Wednesday and identified more than 2,500 in protests by farmers that took place in various parts of the country, according to data from Mi
