My grandson Jasper is a hoot. Almost daily, my daughter, Kayla, sends a picture of something funny that he’s recently done. Here was one of the latest.
Jasper is in kindergarten and is WAY big into writing. He has a journal and regularly writes in it and draws a picture to go along with what he wrote.
He had set his pumpkins up outside the door on the steps as a decoration.
Kayla’s note that went with the picture:
I told Jasper his pumpkins were in the way so he needed to move them to the sides. His solution was to thumbtack a caution sign into a pumpkin. It says “Pumpkins are right here so watch out for the pumpkins and boo”
Kalissa sent these pictures as a reminder of a day with the grandkids at my house from back in 2022! They were so much smaller. Left to Right it’s Carver, Scotty, Lucy, and Gannon. Oh, Gannon looks little.

We got together on the family messenger group to sing Happy Birthday to Craig. He’s 32 now. Kelli was at work, so she couldn’t join.

Here is something I wrote:
Anders asks Uncle Karl to come to his house. Karl says he can’t tonight. Anders says awe. He was so sad. It was extra cute.
Karl is the favorite of the grandkids. It’s so cute that even Anders, at three years old, knows he loves spending time with Uncle Karl.
Buck wrote to me:
“Mom, I’m watching a movie on Prime for you so I can tell you if it’s good or not. I don’t want to because I have things to do, but I’d hate for you to waste your time on a bad movie. The movie is called Old Henry.”

After he watched it he sent me this:
Westerns get their own rating:
Overall quality: soft 7/10
Lore: 9/10 Gunfights:5/10
The movie did have some intense 30 seconds here and there, but couldn’t touch modern classics like 3:10 to Yuma, Lonesome Dove, and the like.
I just never know what I’ll see in the group. Some things I’m sad about. Jasper telling Kayla he felt like a “crocked old man”….and the next day a “tired old bear”. They later took him to the doctor and he had strep throat.
Sometimes I smile like Kelli paying off her student loans!!
Other times more laughs.

This Kalissa sent. Gannon wrote it. He has a series of books about Rmycat (Armycat). He’s in the military. Gannon has been writing books about Rmycat for several years. I was so sad to see this is the “finel” (final book). I’m hoping Gannon will develop a new character and start a new series. I’ve loved seeing the past ones. I talked to him and suggested maybe Rmydog. He wasn’t too impressed.
Kayla shared THIS recipe. She said it was very good.
Buck shared Lucy’s Lego coffee shop…

Kalissa sent pictures of the cat I rescued that she is fostering. He is super loveable and sweet…best in a one-cat home. He’s great with the kids and tolerates most anything Anders can dish out. He still hasn’t found a home yet. Are you looking for a cat?

Buck sent this that Lucy made…hilarious!!

Spencer, Kayla’s husband, chaperoned the field trip for Jasper’s class.

Kelli sent this picture with a link. This is the well-known octagon house in Decorah, Iowa. It’s for sale. She sent a link so we could all look inside and see what it’s like. You can find it HERE.

When you drive by an iconic house for years and years, it’s fun to see what the inside might look like.
Jasper showed off his harvest from the garden. I think Kayla said this all came from three seeds….WOW.

This picture was a surprise. Kelli, on the left, and Kalissa, on the right, happened to be at a nurse career fair. Each was representing their prospective hospital. Neither knew the other was going to be at the fair. They met up and had to send me this picture. LOVE IT!!

I love the family messenger group. It’s such an easy way for us to all share with each other. I can’t imagine all the things I would miss in the kids and grandkids lives with it.
If you are someone who has refused to learn to text or send messages…these are some of the things you might be missing. It’s so important for us parents and grandparents not to be afraid of technology and changes. If we don’t stay with the times, we might just miss out on opportunities to communicate with our kids and grandkids. I am confident that if you are unsure of how to text or use messenger, your family members will help you learn. I promise, it’s not hard.
I would have hated to miss all these special family moments. They cheer my day and make me feel more connected. Give it a try if you don’t already!!
