Robert House reappears in fifth episode from the second season Of Fallout and he seems to want something from Cooper Howard: but what? If in the video game New Vegas is an important antagonist, in the TV series Robert House is an enigmatic presence: it is not clear what he is aiming for, but several flashbacks proposed during the second season made it clear that he is a man with numerous objectives. But what does Howard want from Cooper?

Fallout 2, what does Robert House want from Cooper Howard? The explanation of the meeting

Before becoming a GhoulCooper Howard met Robert House. While Cooper was initially asked to keep an eye on his wife, the mission changed at some point: Howard was asked to reach Robert Howard and kill him. Cooper, however, has no intention of doing so and partially carries out the plan, finding himself face to face with the real Robert House. The fifth episode, in fact, explains that House in recent years has used an actor, a man who pretended to be Robert House in public, thus becoming the face of RobCo Industries to protect his true identity. In this way the entrepreneur misled all his enemies: whoever had decided to kill him would have aimed at the wrong man. This revelation also offered more clarity to fans, as in the first season Robert House had already appeared with the likeness of Rafi Silver. The latter, then, was inserted again in the fifth episode explaining that he was a stand-in for the real Robert House, played instead by Justin Theroux.

Robert House doesn’t like to be caught off guard. He is a man who generally always knows everything and in fact informs Cooper that he knows why he arrived there: but how did he discover that the actor had been sent to Las Vegas to kill him? He didn’t offer a direct answer to the question, but explained that he typically uses sophisticated calculations to predict future moves. During their tense conversation, House even explained to a stunned Cooper that he witnessed his disastrous mission in Alaskawhen he was joined by a frightening creature (deathclaw). The entrepreneur is convinced that that creature is connected to the future of the nation and also to his wife, Barbara. He also has cold fusion technology and intends to use it to achieve immortalitytransferring his consciousness into a robotic body.

Another interesting detail during the conversation concerns the end of the world: House claims that the date of the apocalypse is near and coincides with Cooper Howard’s daughter’s birthday. But what is the role of the latter in all this? Cooper doesn’t trust anyone, not his wife nor Robert House, who claims that Vault-Tec is full of heartless bureaucrats, probably also referring to Barbara. But why explain so much to Cooper Howard? To find out more, we will probably have to wait for the new episodes.
