Handball Bundesliga team SG Flensburg-Handewitt has reacted to the serious injury of Dane Lukas Jörgensen and signed Bosnian national player Adin Faljic. The 25-year-old has a contract until the end of the season.
Faljic is moving from Croatian Champions League participant RK Zagreb to Flensburg Fjord. The Schleswig-Holstein team responded by saying that Jörgensen will no longer play a game for the SG due to the cruciate ligament tear he suffered at the European Championships. After this season he will move to the Hungarian top club Veszprem.
Glandorf: “Can help us immediately”
“The loss of Lukas Jörgensen forced us to react at short notice. With Adin Faljic we are getting an internationally experienced pivot who knows the game in this position and can help immediately,” said SG managing director Holger Glandorf. “He brings physical presence, stability in defense and experience from the Champions League – exactly what we need now.”
“Despite the short adjustment period, I am convinced that he will quickly give our team security.”
SG-Trainer Ales Pajovic
Faljic is happy about “the chance to play for Flensburg in the future. After my time in Zagreb, for which I am very grateful to the club and everyone involved, I am now highly motivated to develop further and take on responsibility at the highest level. I have worked my entire career for such an opportunity and will do everything I can to fulfill the trust of the club, the players and the fans.”
After the European Championship break, second-placed Flensburg will start the Bundesliga season again on Tuesday (8 p.m.) with an away game at VfL Gummersbach.
