This week, factory quotes for beef have reached new heights, showcasing a significant uptick across all categories. The recent storm, Éowyn, disrupted operations but failed to halt the upward trajectory of beef prices.
On Friday, January 24, Storm Éowyn brought substantial damage to property and services, leaving several areas without power. However, most factories regained operations on Monday, January 27. Procurement staff, however, report communication difficulties due to poor phone signals caused by power outages in some areas.
Many slaughterhouses experienced no kills on Friday, while others operated on reduced capacity from midday onward as the storm’s intensity waned.
