Facing Fears | Overcoming Challenges

It happened last Monday around 5:15 p.m. Yasar’s colleague was behind the cash register, while he himself was working further down the store. “Suddenly a man comes in with a gun,” Yasar tells RTL News.

The robber demanded money. “I heard him shouting all the time, ‘Give me money, give me money,’” Yasar says.

But his colleague didn’t just let that happen. “He was trying to buy time because I was standing further away in the store. I knew if I walked over, the robber would get scared because there would be two of us.”

A surveillance camera behind the cash register recorded everything. You see how Yasar’s colleague does not hesitate for a moment and wants to push the robber out the door. He even grabs the gun to take it away:

The assessment that the robber would be shocked if Yasar were to arrive turned out to be correct. When he noticed him, the man took off running. “We chased him for about 500 meters. But then he was gone.”

Scared? The two never had that moment. “We are not afraid of this kind of thing,” Yasar says coolly. He says the cashier is doing well. The two are happy with the outcome of their action. “Luckily nothing happened and nothing was taken.”

Robber on the loose

The perpetrator managed to get away from the attempted robbery and has been missing ever since. A police spokesperson said that no one has been arrested yet and that the investigation is still ongoing.
